During a pre-deployment exercise, two F/A-18F Super Hornets from VFA-41 'Black Aces' were directed by USS Princeton radar to investigate an unidentified contact. CDR David Fravor observed a 40-foot white Tic Tac-shaped object with no wings, no exhaust, and no visible means of propulsion performing impossible maneuvers above a churning patch of water. When Fravor attempted to intercept, the object accelerated toward him, then vanished. A second crew captured it on FLIR video minutes later. The Pentagon authenticated the footage in 2020. Fravor testified under oath before Congress in 2023.

Over three consecutive nights, USAF personnel stationed at twin RAF bases encountered structured craft in Rendlesham Forest. TSgt Jim Penniston claims to have touched a craft and transcribed symbols from its surface. On the second night, Lt Col Charles Halt — the deputy base commander — led a patrol into the forest and created a 17-minute audio tape recording events in real time, noting radiation readings above background level at the landing site. The Halt memo to the MoD was declassified. Nick Pope's reinvestigation concluded the official MoD dismissal was inadequate. It remains the UK's most documented UAP incident.

Over a sustained period in 2014-2015, multiple F/A-18 pilots attached to the USS Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group reported near-daily encounters with unidentified objects operating in restricted military airspace. The objects — described as sphere, acorn, or metallic blimp shapes — had no visible propulsion, flew at altitudes from sea level to 30,000 feet, and were tracked on radar. The DoD released three associated videos (Gimbal, GoFast, FLIR1) in 2020. Pilot Ryan Graves testified under oath before Congress in 2023. Elizondo and Mellon facilitated the video release.

Over five months, thousands of Belgian civilians and police officers reported large triangular objects with three white lights and a central red light flying silently over Belgium. The Belgian Air Force (BAF) scrambled F-16 fighter jets on March 30-31, 1990 and achieved radar lock on an object that demonstrated apparent accelerations exceeding 40G — beyond any human-survivable limit. General Wilfried De Brouwer subsequently held a press conference publicly acknowledging the objects and stating they could not be identified. The BAF investigation is the most transparent official military UAP investigation ever conducted by any government.

An Imperial Iranian Air Force F-4 Phantom scrambled to intercept a bright object over Tehran experienced complete electronic failure when approaching the target. A second F-4 also scrambled, achieved radar lock, and attempted to fire an AIM-9 missile — at which point all weapons systems and instrument panels went dark. When the pilot broke off the attack, systems resumed. A declassified Defense Intelligence Agency report documented the incident and assessed it as a genuine encounter with an unknown craft. The DIA document is one of the most specific and compelling official UAP records released by the US government.

Japan Air Lines Boeing 747 freighter flight 1628, commanded by Captain Kenju Terauchi, encountered two small objects and then a massive craft over Alaska during a cargo flight from Paris to Tokyo. The FAA confirmed simultaneous radar tracking from both the aircraft and an Air Route Traffic Control Center. Terauchi described the large craft as twice the size of an aircraft carrier. The FAA's investigation was suppressed by internal pressure according to FAA official John Callahan, who later became a Disclosure Project witness. The incident is considered one of the most credible commercial aviation UAP encounters on record.

In early July 1947, rancher Mac Brazel discovered a debris field on the Foster Ranch northwest of Roswell, NM. He reported it to Chaves County Sheriff George Wilcox, who contacted Roswell Army Air Field. Major Jesse Marcel, Intelligence Officer of the 509th Bomb Group, was dispatched to investigate. RAAF Public Information Officer Walter Haut issued a press release on July 8 announcing recovery of a 'flying disc' under orders from base commander Colonel William Blanchard. Hours later, Brigadier General Roger Ramey held a press conference in Fort Worth retracting the claim, identifying the debris as a weather balloon and radar reflector. The USAF issued two subsequent reports — in 1994 identifying the debris as likely from classified Project Mogul balloon arrays, and in 1997 attributing alleged 'body' accounts to anthropomorphic test dummies used in 1950s parachute experiments. A 1995 GAO investigation found that RAAF administrative records and outgoing messages from 1945–1949 had been destroyed under undocumented authority.

On March 16 and March 24, 1967, ten Minuteman I ICBM missiles went offline simultaneously at two separate launch control facilities (Echo Flight and Oscar Flight) at Malmstrom AFB, Montana. Former USAF officers Robert Salas (Oscar Flight) and Walter Figel (Echo Flight) have made public statements linking the shutdowns to UFO sightings by security guards at the facilities. The official USAF investigation attributed Echo Flight's failure to an electronic noise pulse entering the logic coupler. Echo Flight crew commanders Eric Carlson and Walter Figel have both denied that UFO sightings were connected to the shutdown. FOIA-released 341st SMW unit history confirms the Echo Flight outage but makes no mention of UFO involvement. Robert Salas has testified publicly at the 2010 National Press Club and submitted testimony to AARO in 2023.

On December 9, 1965 at approximately 4:45 PM EST, a large fireball observed across six US states and Canada came down near the village of Kecksburg, Pennsylvania. Volunteer firefighter Jim Romansky, dispatched to investigate a possible downed aircraft, reported approaching an acorn-shaped bronze metallic object bearing hieroglyphic-like markings in a wooded ravine. Military personnel arrived and cordoned off the area; witnesses reported an object was loaded onto a flatbed truck and removed under military escort. WHJB radio news director John Murphy, the first journalist on scene, later had his film and audio tapes confiscated. Murphy subsequently produced only a sanitized version of his radio documentary before dying in 1969. Project Blue Book classified the event as a meteor bolide. In 2003, journalist Leslie Kean filed a federal FOIA lawsuit against NASA (Kean v. NASA, 480 F. Supp. 2d 150), settled in 2007; NASA produced hundreds of documents but acknowledged that key 1987 analysis records had been lost.

On the evening of March 13, 1997, thousands of people across approximately 300 miles of the American Southwest witnessed two distinct phenomena: a massive V-shaped formation of lights moving silently overhead, followed by a stationary arc of bright orbs over Phoenix that eventually disappeared simultaneously. The event was captured on home video by numerous residents. Arizona Governor Fife Symington held a press conference the following day mocking the incident, then reversed course a decade later, publicly admitting he had personally witnessed the V formation and found it inexplicable. The Air Force attributed the second set of lights to A-10 Warthog aircraft conducting flare training at Barry Goldwater Range, an explanation disputed by witnesses and timing analysis of the events.

On November 7, 2006, approximately 12 United Airlines employees including gate personnel, mechanics, supervisors, and pilots observed a spinning, metallic, saucer-shaped object hovering silently at approximately 1,900 feet beneath overcast cloud cover near Gate C17. The object made no sound and displayed no identifying markings or lights. After approximately five minutes, it shot vertically through the overcast cloud layer, leaving a circular hole in the clouds that was visible for several minutes. The FAA initially declined to investigate, claiming no radar contact. The Chicago Tribune obtained FAA audio recordings through FOIA, revealing FAA supervisor discussions of the event and United Airlines pilot communications reporting the object. The FAA's official position remains that the incident was a weather phenomenon.

On July 15, 2019, multiple U.S. Navy ships including USS Omaha tracked and filmed a spherical object exhibiting flight characteristics inconsistent with any known aircraft. The object was filmed by USS Omaha's Combat Information Center crew using FLIR thermal imaging. The footage shows a round, metallic object flying at approximately 130 knots before descending into the Pacific Ocean. The object was observed to submerge without disintegrating - behavior inconsistent with conventional aircraft or drone failure. The Pentagon authenticated the USS Omaha footage in 2021. This incident is part of a broader cluster of documented Navy UAP encounters from 2019 involving multiple vessels and dozens of crew members.

On the evening of January 8, 2008, dozens of residents of Stephenville, Texas, including a pilot, a constable, and local business owners, reported enormous, low-flying lights moving silently at high speed across Erath County. The objects were described as approximately a mile wide by some witnesses, with brilliant white lights and no sound. The Air Force initially denied any aircraft were in the area. One week later, the Air Force reversed course and stated F-16 fighters had been conducting training nearby. MUFON (Mutual UFO Network) subsequently obtained FAA radar data through FOIA that showed an unidentified object tracking toward President George W. Bush's Crawford Ranch, prompting Secret Service interest. Radar analysis showed the object flying at speeds of 1,900-2,100 mph without any military intercept response.

On the night of October 4, 1967, at least eleven witnesses including an RCAF pilot, RCMP officers, and local fishermen observed a large, low-flying object with bright amber lights descend and impact the water of Shag Harbour. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) immediately launched a search operation, joined by the Canadian Coast Guard. Divers and vessels found no aircraft wreckage, but some divers reported a large metallic object on the seafloor before it moved north and eventually vanished. The Canadian government opened an official investigation and filed the incident in Transport Canada records as an unidentified flying object - making Shag Harbour one of the only UAP incidents to be officially documented as such by any government agency in contemporaneous records.

On January 8, 2008, dozens of witnesses in Stephenville and surrounding Erath County, Texas reported a massive, low-flying object showing brilliant white lights moving silently at high speed. Witnesses included a pilot, a constable, and dozens of civilians. The U.S. Air Force initially denied having aircraft in the area; four days later it reversed course and acknowledged that F-16 fighter jets from the 457th Fighter Squadron (Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base) were conducting training operations in the area. A subsequent MUFON radar analysis retrieved FAA radar data showing an unidentified track approaching Washington D.C. airspace - in the direction of President Bush's Crawford Ranch. The track was accompanied by a military radar return (presumed F-16s) following it.

On the morning of April 6, 1966, approximately 200 students and teachers at Westall State School and the adjacent Grange Reserve in suburban Melbourne witnessed an unidentified craft descend, briefly land in a paddock, and depart at high speed. The object was described as a silver-grey saucer shape with a slight purple hue, roughly the size of two family cars. Multiple witnesses reported that five small aircraft appeared and circled the area during or shortly after the event. The incident lasted approximately 20 minutes and occurred in broad daylight around 11:00 AM local time.

In the immediate aftermath, witnesses reported being instructed by school authorities and individuals in plain clothes not to discuss what they had seen. Science teacher Andrew Greenwood, who witnessed the event, was reportedly told to keep students quiet. Physical evidence included a flattened circular area of grass in the paddock where the object reportedly landed. Witnesses have maintained their accounts consistently for decades, with many participating in the 2010 documentary.

No official Australian government investigation was made public. Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) records related to the incident are reportedly incomplete, and attempts to locate official investigation files through freedom-of-information requests have produced limited results. Researchers Shane Ryan and others conducted systematic oral history interviews with surviving witnesses beginning in the 2000s.

On September 16, 1994, during the morning break at Ariel School in Ruwa, Zimbabwe, approximately 62 children between the ages of 5 and 12 reported witnessing a metallic disc-shaped craft land in a field adjacent to the school playground. The children were unsupervised as the adult teachers were in a staff meeting. One to two small entities described as having large black eyes, pale or dark skin, and wearing tight black suits were reported to have emerged from or stood near the craft. Several children reported experiencing what they described as visual communication or mental imagery from the entities.

Journalist and UFO researcher Cynthia Hind arrived at the school within days and collected drawings from the children and conducted interviews. Harvard Medical School psychiatrist Dr. John Mack and his team traveled to Zimbabwe within weeks and conducted individual structured interviews with the children. Mack found the accounts to be internally consistent and the children to be psychologically stable. BBC journalist Tim Leach filmed on-site interviews at the school shortly after the event. A second visit by Dr. Mack occurred in 1995.

No official investigation was conducted by the Zimbabwe government. The headmaster of Ariel School, Colin Mackie, confirmed that the children had reported the event and that he believed they were telling the truth. Children who were witnesses have maintained their accounts into adulthood, with several participating in the 2022 documentary 'Ariel Phenomenon.'

During two consecutive weekends in July 1952, multiple unidentified radar returns were tracked over restricted airspace in Washington D.C. by controllers at Washington National Airport Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC) and Andrews Air Force Base. Objects appeared on radar screens traveling at estimated speeds up to 7,200 mph and maneuvering over the White House, Capitol, and restricted airspace known as ADIZ. Airline pilots flying into National Airport visually confirmed lights matching the radar positions. F-94 interceptors were scrambled on both weekends; the objects disappeared when jets approached and reappeared after they departed.

The incident generated major public and press attention and prompted what became the largest Pentagon press conference since World War II. On July 29, 1952, Major General John Samford, Air Force Director of Intelligence, addressed reporters and attributed the radar contacts to temperature inversions - a meteorological condition that can cause radar anomalies. This explanation was disputed by the radar operators who tracked the objects, including ARTCC supervisor Harry Barnes, who stated the returns were sharp and distinct and not consistent with known temperature inversion effects.

Project Blue Book Chief Captain Edward J. Ruppelt investigated the incidents and later wrote that the Washington flap was one of the most significant UAP events on record. Multiple radar operators and airline pilots who directly observed or tracked the objects maintained that the temperature inversion explanation did not account for what they witnessed. The case remains officially attributed to temperature inversions but this explanation is contested by primary witnesses and subsequent analysts.

On the afternoon of April 24, 1964, New Mexico State Police Officer Lonnie Zamora was in pursuit of a speeding vehicle on the southern edge of Socorro when he observed what he initially thought was a car accident in a ravine. He broke off the chase and drove toward the site. As he approached, he saw an egg-shaped or oval metallic object resting on the ground in the arroyo, and two small figures in white coveralls standing near it. When he drove closer, the figures appeared to react to his presence and retreated toward the craft. Zamora radioed his position and continued approaching. The object then rose with a loud roar, became silent, and departed rapidly to the southwest.

Zamora arrived at the site and observed scorched vegetation and four distinct landing pad impressions pressed into the soil. He also noticed a red insignia on the side of the craft - a shape he drew and reported immediately. New Mexico State Police Sergeant Sam Chavez arrived within minutes and corroborated the physical evidence. Project Blue Book Chief Major Hector Quintanilla and J. Allen Hynek arrived to investigate, as did FBI Agent Arthur Byrnes.

Hynek, the Air Force's scientific consultant, described the Socorro case as one of the most perplexing cases Blue Book had ever investigated. Despite extensive investigation, Project Blue Book left the case officially classified as 'Unidentified' - one of the relatively few cases to retain that designation. Zamora was described by all investigators as a credible witness with no history of exaggeration or unusual claims.

On the night of April 25, 2013, a U.S. Department of Homeland Security / Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Predator B unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operating over northwestern Puerto Rico captured approximately three minutes of forward-looking infrared (FLIR) thermal video of an unidentified object. The object was tracked from Rafael Hernandez Airport in Aguadilla as it flew at low altitude, crossed the airport's active runway approach (causing a brief flight delay for an inbound commercial aircraft), proceeded over the ocean, entered the water, traveled submerged or at the surface, re-emerged from the water, and continued flight - demonstrating apparent transmedium capability between air and water environments.

The DHS/CBP footage was not officially released by the agency. It became available to researchers and was analyzed extensively by the Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies (SCU). In 2015, SCU published a 47-page technical analysis of the footage. The analysis concluded the object's observed flight characteristics - including speeds below aircraft stall speed, the water entry and exit without apparent deceleration or structural disruption, and the split into what appeared to be two objects - could not be explained by any conventional aircraft, drone, bird, or marine animal known to the analysts.

The SCU analysis was authored by researchers with professional backgrounds in physics, engineering, and intelligence analysis. The DHS did not officially acknowledge the footage or the SCU report. The Aguadilla case is considered one of the strongest instrumental UAP cases in the post-2010 period due to the quality of the sensor platform and the anomalous behavior documented.

During the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster that followed the March 11, 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, multiple reports emerged of unidentified aerial objects observed and filmed near the damaged reactor buildings. News helicopter footage and civilian ground-level video captured what appeared to be bright orbs and other luminous objects maneuvering in the vicinity of the plant during the active crisis period. The Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF) were operating helicopters and vehicles in the area during this period as part of emergency response operations, and most footage requires evaluation against that backdrop.

Researchers examining the nuclear site UAP correlation pattern - documented by journalist Robert Hastings in his book 'UFOs and Nukes' covering dozens of Cold War incidents at nuclear facilities - noted the Fukushima reports as a potential continuation of a pattern that includes Malmstrom AFB (1967), Rendlesham Forest (1980, adjacent to nuclear-armed Woodbridge), and multiple Soviet nuclear site incidents. The pattern suggests anomalous aerial objects have consistently appeared at or near nuclear facilities, particularly during periods of crisis or heightened nuclear activity.

No formal investigation of the UAP reports at Fukushima was conducted by TEPCO, the Japanese government, or the Nuclear Regulation Authority. The primary focus of all official bodies was necessarily on the disaster itself. Video footage was partially reviewed by UAP researchers but no definitive analysis equivalent to the SCU Aguadilla report was produced. On January 20, 1996, three young women in Varginha, Brazil encountered a creature in a vacant lot that they described as a humanoid entity approximately 1.5 meters tall with dark brown oily skin, large red eyes, prominent veins on its head, a strong ammonia-like odor, and an unusual body shape including what witnesses described as an oversized head. The three witnesses - sisters Liliane and Valquiria Fatima Silva and their friend Katia Andrade Xavier - fled in terror and reported the encounter to their family. Word spread through the community.

Researchers Ubiraja Rodrigues and Vitorio Pacaccini began investigating within days and collected testimony suggesting Brazilian Army units from the 8th Military Region and the local fire department had been involved in the capture of at least one, and possibly two, living entities in the Varginha area on January 20 and in the days prior. The Regional Hospital of Varginha was reportedly involved in the care or examination of a living entity. Military Police Officer Marco Eli Chereze was reported by his family to have died from an unusual infection six weeks after reportedly handling one of the entities. An unconfirmed report alleged that two American men in civilian clothing were present at the hospital.

Brazilian Army officials denied all involvement in any entity recovery operation. The Varginha Fire Department initially confirmed involvement in an animal capture in the area before subsequently retracting this statement. Brazilian UAP researcher A.J. Gevaerd and the Brazilian UFO Magazine conducted an extensive ongoing investigation. The case attracted international attention and remains the most extensively investigated alleged entity-recovery incident outside of the United States.

A USAF RB-47H reconnaissance aircraft from the 55th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing was tracked by an unidentified object over four U.S. states for approximately 700 miles and 1.5 hours. The object was detected simultaneously on multiple independent systems: the aircraft's own electronic intelligence (ELINT) sensors, ground-based Air Route Traffic Control radar, and visually by the crew. The object exhibited instant acceleration, reversal of direction, and was detected at altitudes and speeds consistent with no known 1957 aircraft. The Condon Committee studied the case and was unable to explain it - formally designating it Unknown (Case 5), one of the rare cases receiving that designation.

Amateur geologist Stefan Michalak encountered two disc-shaped craft near Falcon Lake, Manitoba on May 20, 1967. One craft landed and Michalak approached to within feet of it, observed an opening emitting light, and was struck by a burst of hot gas. He sustained a grid-pattern burn on his chest matching a ventilation grille he described on the craft, suffered radiation sickness symptoms, and experienced lasting health effects for over a year. The site yielded measurable radiation readings and physical ground trace evidence documented by the RCMP, Royal Canadian Air Force, and Canadian Department of National Defence. Considered the most well-documented close encounter case in Canadian history.

On the night of October 24, 1968, a large luminous UAP was observed near nuclear missile silos at Minot AFB, North Dakota, and simultaneously tracked by a USAF B-52H bomber crew on both radar and visually. Ground personnel at multiple missile launch facilities reported the object over a three-hour period. The B-52 crew was directed by Minot Approach Control to investigate and established radar contact; the crew then had direct visual observation of the object. The aircraft's UHF radio became inoperative during close approach. An official Air Force intelligence report was filed as Project Blue Book Case 12548. Robert Hastings documented the case extensively using FOIA-obtained documents, noting its consistency with other UAP incidents at nuclear weapons facilities.

A prolonged close-range encounter near Exeter, New Hampshire involving a police officer, a civilian, and a large low-flying craft with brilliant flashing lights. The incident lasted over two hours, involved multiple independent witnesses including two police officers, and generated an official Project Blue Book investigation that ultimately classified it 'Unidentified' (Case 9890). John Fuller's subsequent book 'Incident at Exeter' (1966) made it one of the most thoroughly documented civilian UAP cases of the era.

Two engineers driving near Loch Raven Dam outside Baltimore encountered a large egg-shaped craft hovering over the bridge spanning the dam. Their car engine and headlights failed as they approached. The object emitted intense heat and light before ascending rapidly with a loud sound. Both men suffered radiation-type skin burns requiring medical treatment. Project Blue Book investigated and classified the case 'Unidentified' (Case 6148). It remains one of the best-documented vehicle electromagnetic effect (EME) cases in the Blue Book archive.
